Sowing Time, Sowing Method, Seed Rate, Spacing and Seed Treatment for Cultivation of Linseed
Sowing Time:
1. In Maharashtra linseed is sown in the month of October.
2. If there are heavy rains after sowing the germination is adversely affected and hence sowing is done after usual heavy rains are over.
Sowing Method:
1. Sowing of linseed is done by broadcasting (Utera perni) and drilling.
2. The linseed is broadcasted in standing paddy crop when paddy is at grain filling stage as catch crops know as utera.
Seed Rate:
1. For small seeded varieties – 10 to 15 kg/ha.
2. For big seeded varieties – 20 to 24 kg/ha.
Spacing :
22 cm x 10 cm.
Seed Treatment:
Seed are treated with Bavistin @ 1.5 g/kg seed to control seed borne diseases.
