Seed Treatment, Seed Rate and Spacing for Rabi Sorghum

Seed Treatment:

1. Sulphur Treatment:

Jowar seed is treated with 300 mesh fine sulphur @ 4 gm/kg seed for the control of smut disease.

2. Carbofuran Treatment:

Seed is treated with carbofuran @ 100 gm/kg seed to protect crop from attack of shoot fly.

3. Azotobacter Treatment:

Seed is treated with azotobacter inoculants just before sowing @ 250 gm/10kg seed for increasing fixation of the atmospheric nitrogen.

Seed Rate:

a) For Grain Purpose:

i) Drilling      :           8 to 10kg/ha.
ii) Dibbling    :           5 kg/ha.

b) For Fodder Purpose:

Drilling         :           50 to 60 kg/ha.

Spacing:

a) Grain Purpose:

i) Drilling       :           45 x 15 cm
ii) Dibbling     :           45 x 45 cm
