Properties and Function of Herbicide – Carbon Disulphide and Sodium Chlorate
Carbon Disulphide (CS2):
It is non selective soil sterilent (temporary) used for soil application.
It is colorless liquid. Vapors are poisonous and explosive. Used for control of Convulvus arvensis and other perennial weeds. It is used as temporary soil sterilent for perennial weeds.
Sodium Chlorate:
It is non selective soil sterilent.
Dose :
400 – 1200 kg/ha or 0.5 to 1.5 kg per 100 sq. feet used as soil application directly as a dry crystal or as a spray solution. The plants absorb the solution both by roots and leaves. It is crystalline, soluble in water and low solubility in organic solutions.
Registered for use in cotton and beans. Mainly used in non – cropped area for spot treatment and soil sterilization such as road side, fence, ditches etc. Kills Convolvulus arvensis. It is inflammable and strong oxidizing agent. Keep animals away from freshly treated areas. Formulations granular form.
