Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamankal (M A V I M)
MAVIM was founded on 24th February 1975 with the aim of encouraging women to be financially independent and self-reliant. A number of activities and programmes were organized in the last 25 years to achieve this aim by introducing many commercial schemes. During the period form 1994 to 2002an important programme the Maharashtra rural Credit Programme (MRCP) was implemented. After careful study of the programme, its usefulness and success the Board of Directors of MAVIM took a bold decision in September 2001 that MAVIM would cease to do trading activity, but would concentrate only on women’s empowerment programmes based on self-help groups.

2. To build up capacities of women
3. Building confidence in women
4. Strengthening entrepreneurship among women
5. Building linkages between employment opportunities and market possibilities
6. Increasing participation of women in education and in governance.
