Distribution and Movement of Viruses in Plant

1. After introduction into cell, virus moves towards site of synthesis. This movement is passive through protoplasmic stream.
2. The movement of synthesised virus particles between cells occurs through plasmodesmata connecting adjacent cells.
3. The rate of spread is greater in young than old tissues. The movement faster at higher than lower temperature due to fast streaming of protoplasm. Some viruses transported through phloem, few through xylem vessels.
