Agro Climatic Zones Of Maharashtra
Maharashtra has large size and varied topography. The rainfall in the state varies from 500 mm in Eastern Maharashtra day zone to 4000 mm in ghatzone. Temperature though does not very much is not limiting factor for crop production so also solar radition. Soils also very from laterites in coastal region red or light brown in the high areas to heavy black soils of varying depths in plaleus. Maharashtra has been divided in to nine agro climatic zones on the basis of annual rainfall soil types, vegetation and cropaing pattern (Table. 1).
