Now Get Government Subsidies to Cultivate Potatoes

In many states, seeds of pulses and oilseeds are being given to farmers as subsidies. Along with increasing the production, the farmers’ income can also be increased and those farmers who suffered losses during the previous cropping season can start working again.

In this sequence, the Madhya Pradesh Government is offering subsidies on seeds, insecticides, and spray machines to its potato farmers. The government is inviting applications for these subsidies. Interested farmers may apply and benefit from these subsidies.

Which Farmers Can Avail the Benefit of Subsidy? 

Under the Vegetable Demonstration Program (Potato) scheme in Madhya Pradesh, targets have been set for 4 districts: Shivpuri, Ujjain, Sagar, and Shajapur. There is a target of 600 units for these 4 districts. Scheduled Caste farmers are the only beneficiaries of the scheme. Grants will be provided to 200 farmers in Shivpuri, 200 in Ujjain, 183 in Sagar, and 177 in Shajapur.

What Materials are Covered Under the Subsidy for Potato Cultivation?

Certified seeds, as well as other materials required for cultivation, will be provided to farmers under this scheme. Farmers will also be provided with certified potato seed, a battery-powered hand sprayer pump, plastic kits, etc.

As part of the potato exhibition program, selected farmers will receive potato seeds along with other materials according to their physical target. For 0.1 hectare, farmers will receive 200 kg of certified potato seed at a cost of Rs.25 per kg. Farmers will receive potato seed up to Rs.5000. Along with this, Battery cum Hand Sprayer Pump 1 will be given 4 plastic crates will be given, the cost of which is Rs 450 per plastic crate, for which a total of Rs 1800 will be charged.

When and How to Apply to Receive the Required Materials on the Grant

Online farmer applications will be available from 11am on 26 October 2021.​​ Interested farmers can register with the Madhya Pradesh Farmers Subsidy Scheme at the Horticulture Department
